Following the City’s recent announcement of additional potential cuts to library funding, The New York Public Library has paused our hiring activity, with limited exceptions (see below).

We encourage you to sign a letter to City leaders about the importance of New York City’s public libraries and the free critical services and resources they provide for all New Yorkers.

Planning for Your Future

To help our employees build a financially secure future for themselves and family members, the Library participates in The New York State and Local Employees Retirement System (NYSLRS) or the New York State Voluntary Defined Contribution Plan (if eligible). Employees contribute a percentage of their gross salary on a pre-tax basis towards their retirement. If employees wish to save additional tax deferred dollars, the Library offers additional voluntary retirement savings programs.
