What I do at The New York Public Library

I am the Assistant Director of the Cataloging Department in BookOps, the shared library services collaboration of New York Public Library and Brooklyn Public Library.

I lead a team of over forty librarians and paraprofessionals and manage all aspects of the cataloging workflows for circulating and research libraries materials.

Who am I?

I began my cataloging career in Brooklyn Public Library in 2007 shortly after graduating from the MLS program at Pratt Institute. My main responsibilities were original and copy cataloging of Polish materials in various formats. In 2013 when BPL partnered with NYPL in BookOps, I became a member of the BookOps staff. My interests slowly gravitated from traditional cataloging toward programming and the automation of cataloging workflows. This work continued and expanded in my new role of a Metadata Manager tasked with development of cataloging applications. As the head of the Cataloging, a role that I stepped into in February 2023, I'm looking for a successful combination of traditional cataloging and innovative technologies in our work.
