Manager, Audio and Moving Image Description

What I do at The New York Public Library

As the Manager of Audio and Moving Image Description for NYPL's Special Collection Processing, I provide leadership for the Library’s implementation of standards for the description of audio and moving images. I coordinate the creation and enhancement of metadata for archival audio and moving image materials. I participate in the evaluation and planned intake of potential acquisitions with significant audio and moving image components and collaborate with Library partners on the preservation of media in all formats. I also supervise and train staff carrying out inventory, cataloging, and processing of audio and moving image collections, including Librarians, non-professional staff, interns, and volunteers.

Why The New York Public Library

In addition to world-class special collections, at NYPL you will work with phenomenal colleagues who will support your professional endeavors and encourage your growth and curiousity.

Who am I?

I hold an M.A. from New York University's Moving Image Archiving and Preservation (MIAP) program. I am in the final semesters of the MLIS with Advanced Archival Certificate program at Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. I also teach the Metadata for Moving Image course that is part of the MIAP required curriculum.
