Ann Bell
Managing Librarian, Programs & Outreach
What I do at The New York Public Library
I oversee curation and strategic direction for programming of all adult classes, workshops, and community resources at SNFL. Through collaborations with colleagues, I also lead our signature live event series, 7 Stories Up, which features author talks, concerts, diverse discussion panels, and much much more!
Why The New York Public Library
Working at NYPL means contributing to one of the world's most respected public institutions, one committed to access, intellectual freedom, and lifelong learning. Staff play a vital role in connecting diverse communities with knowledge, culture, and resources that support curiosity, creativity, and civic life.
Who am I?
I have a strong interdisciplinary background in art and design history, archives, and scholarship having worked at a variety of museums and academic institutions in NYC. I was lucky enough to complete my entire professional education here and hold a BA in Art History (Hunter College), an MA in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture (Bard Graduate Center), and an MLIS (Pratt Institute). My interests and research span everything from the luxuries of Louis XIV to the bohemian lifestyles of La Belle Epoque and autobiographical stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
