Brian Jones
Director, Center for Educators & Schools
What I do at The New York Public Library
I set the general direction of our center, and focus on helping our teams be as successful as possible. We've come a long way in three years! I shared some highlights of our work in a recent Back to School blog post.
Who am I?
I taught elementary grades in New York City's public schools for nine years. I earned a PhD in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center. My library career started at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, where I finished my dissertation as a scholar-in-residence, and later was hired as associate director of education.
Advice for prospective candidates
We put a lot of thought into how we support educators and schools, and how best to do so as NYPL. Read our website closely and notice the ways we are inviting educators to use the Library.Â
